Team Practice Schedule August 22 - August 27

4th week of practice already! Home meet this week! Remember to hydrate everyday as it is still extremely warm outside.

Monday August 22 @ 7:00 PM at Moab Golf Club. Six mile run following the same route that the home meet is run on. The run will start at an easy pace, work up to a tempo pace (comfortably hard) and then end with an easy pace. We also will have a guest speaker at practice to talk to the team about her experiences as a runner. Because of the long run expect practice to end between 8:45 and 9:00.

Tuesday August 23 @ 7:00 PM at the Moab Golf Club. Easy three mile run at a conversational pace followed up with six strides.

Wednesday August 24. Our home meet at the Moab Golf Club! Team members will be released from school at 1:30 and have the option to ride the bus or drive their own car to the golf course. The bus will leave from in front of the High School at 1:45 pm. All  team members must be at the course by 2:00 pm. The meet begins with Jr High races at 3:00 pm. The HS boys race starts at 4:00 pm and the HS girls race starts at 4:30. Following the awards ceremony all team members must participate in sweeping and cleaning the course.

Thursday August 25 @ 7:00 PM at Rotary Park. 6 mile conversational pace trail run led by Coach Trish.

Friday August 26 @ 3:00 PM at the HS track. 1 mile warm up followed by (12)  400 meter repeats with a 45 second recovery on the HS track. All runners will have a time goal. The first four should feel like you are holding back; the middle four should feel like you have to work a bit and the last four should feel uncomfortable. Finish the workout with a 800 meter cool down.

Saturday August 27: 4 -5 mile run on your own.

The general rule of thumb is if a HS cross country runner trains hard for 1 year they can expect about a 1 minute improvement in time. We had all our runners improve by about a minute and some far greater than a minute! The results of your hard work were in full display at Sugarhouse Park yesterday - everyone toed that start line with the confidence that they were going to run great! This confidence came from knowing that you put in the work and that you were there to compete! Congratulations to everyone who successfully competed!
