Team Practice Schedule for August 31 - September 4
Fifth Week of Practice!
Monday August 31 @ 6:30 PM at Rotary Park: 4 mile timed tempo run at 85% of 3 mile effort followed by 4 - 100 yard strides in the park.
Tuesday September 1 @ 6:30 PM at Rotary Park: 3 mile taper run as we prepare for our meet on Wednesday at Monticello.
Wednesday September 2: Loyd's Lake Classic in Monticello. Team members will be excused at 1:10 PM to board the bus for Monticello. Bus leaves at 1:30 from in front of the HS. Race times are 4:30 for JV boys; 5:15 Varsity Boys and 5:20 Varsity Girls.
Thursday September 3 @ 6:30 at Rotary Park: 4 mile recovery run followed with 4 - 100 yard strides in the park.
Friday September 4 @ 3:00 at the HS track. Fire on the Track Friday! A series of speed work drills to finish out the week!
Saturday September 5: Enjoy the weekend off!

Team Practice Schedule for August 24 - 29
Fourth week of practice!
Monday August 24 @ 6:30 pm PM at the Moab Golf Club. Medium 6 mile timed tempo run followed by 4 - 100 yard strides in the Park.
Tuesday August 25 @ 6:30 PM at the Moab Golf Club. Meet at the Moab Golf Club for a 3.1 mile run on the golf course to prepare for our home meet on Wednesday.
Wednesday August 26. Our home meet at the Moab Golf Club! Team members will be released from school at 1:15 and have the option to ride the bus or drive their own car to the golf course. The bus will leave from in front of the High School at 1:30 pm. All team members must be at the course by 2:00 pm. The meet begins with Jr High races at 3:15 pm. The HS boys race starts at 4:00 pm and the HS girls race starts at 4:30. Following the awards ceremony all team members must participate in sweeping and cleaning the course.

Team Attendance Policy
Welcome back to school! The Coaches and Captains want to
help you make this a great cross-country season. We admire the dedication you
put into the team and realize many of you have commitments outside of cross
country. To help us keep track of the training plan for all members, we are
asking everyone to follow these attendance guidelines:
- Attendance at practice will help you attain a personal best and will advance the team toward state. We expect all members to come to every practice.
- If you must miss one practice a week, please provide parent documentation explaining the reason you are missing practice. Documentation may come in the form of a parent phone call to Randy, a parent note or email, or a copy of your work schedule.
- If you must miss more than one practice in a week, you are expected to do the practices listed on the blog on your own. For documentation, please bring your training log signed by a parent or guardian and the reason for your absence.
- Two Sport Athletes: Our team supports those student athletes who take on the challenge of competing in two sports in the same season. These athletes should talk directly to the coaches for an individualized training plan and will be excused from normal cross country practices while attending their other sports practices and competitions.
If for some reason you can’t meet these expectations, you
will not be invited to attend the meet that week. We hope you will join us again
the following week.

Team Practice Schedule for August 17 - 21
3rd week of practice! Evening practices start this week and as you all know the weather is extremely hot. Please hydrate all day prior to practice and bring a full water bottle to practice.
Monday August 17: Two practices this day - a 6:30 am practice at the recreation center for those team members who have band practice in the evening and are unable to attend the evening practice. For those team members who are not in band, we will have a evening practice at 6:30 at Rotary Park. Both practices team members will run a medium 4 mile run followed by four 100 yard strides.
Tuesday August 18 @ 6:30 pm at Rotary Park: Speed work at the HS track. After a warm-up at Rotary Park we will jog to the HS track for a speed workout on the track.
Wednesday August 19 @ 6:30 pm at Rotary Park: Medium four mile run followed by four 100 yard strides at the park.
Thursday August 21: Second meet of the season - The Highland Invitational in Sugar House Park in Salt Lake City. Team members will be dismissed from school at 9:45 am to board the bus. BRING YOUR HOMEWORK WITH YOU TO DO ON THE BUS! We will stop at the Subway in Green River for lunch around 11:15. First race of the day (Frosh/Soph boys) is at 4:00. After the meet we will stop for dinner before heading back to Moab. We should be back at the High School around 10:30 pm.
Friday August 22 @ 3:00 pm at Rotary Park: Long Uphill Run up Sand Flats Road. To the top for our veteran runners; 1/2 for new runners.

Premier Invitational Results
Here are the official results from the Premier Invitation ran in Tooele, UT on Saturday August 15. There were seven members of the cross-country team that participated in the race. The venue was absolutely spectacular with a 1.2 mile gradual uphill followed by a long downhill trail run to a quarter-mile uphill to the finish line. Congratulations to our runners who ran this tough course! Pictures to follow soon!

Team Practice Schedule for August 10 - 15
2nd week of practice!
To prepare for our meet on Saturday we will have four full workouts Monday - Thursday and a taper run on Friday. All Practices will be held this week from 6:30 am to 8:00 am at the Recreation Center.
Monday August 10: Team meeting followed by a four mile run. When we return to the park we will do 4 - 50 yard strides on the grass at the park.
Tuesday August 11: Timed 3 mile run to the HS.Our first timed run of the season. We will use this as a baseline to measure improvement throughout the season.
Wednesday August 12: Trail run led by Coach Trish.
Thursday August 13: Speed workout at the park led by Coach Randy. Uniform handouts after the workouts at the park.
Friday August 14: Three mile taper run in preparation for our first meet of the season. Bus for Tooele leaves at 4:00 at the HS; please arrive by 3:45 to board the bus.
Saturday August 15: First meet of the season - The Premier Invitational at Settlement Canyon in Tooele. First race starts at 12:30. More information on this meet to follow.

Black Hawk 10k Results
Here are the official results from the Black Hawk 10k ran in Golden, CO on Saturday morning August 1. There were six members of the cross-country team and/or the Moab Running Club and Coach Trish that participated in the race. The venue was absolutely spectacular - the race started at 8,500 feet in the Rocky Mountains and climbed 1,000 before turning back to run a long downhill back to the start line. Congratulations to our runners who accepted the challenge of running this tough course!
