Team Dinner

The cross-country team will be having a team spaghetti dinner on Monday October 15 for all team members and their parents at 6:30 pm in the High School Commons. Please make plans to attend.

State Meet

The state cross country meet will be held on Wednesday October 17, 2011 at Sugarhouse Park in Salt Lake City. Race times are 11:30 for girls and 12:30 for boys.

The team will leave for Salt Lake City on Tuesday October 16 at 4:00 pm. We will be traveling in a school bus.

We will be staying at the La Quinta Inn in Midvale on Tuesday night. The phone number at the hotel is (801) 566-3291. When we arrive in Salt Lake City we will have dinner at the Olive Garden on State Street before checking into the hotel.

Wednesday morning we will have breakfast at the hotel and then leave for the meet at 9:00; arriving at Sugarhouse Park at around 9:30. After the meet we will have lunch in Salt Lake City and then head back to Moab. We should be back in Moab between 6:00 and 7:00.

Just a reminder - if you plan on leaving after the meet with your parents please have your parents write a note and give it to both the office and to a coach letting us know that you will not be traveling home with the team. Thanks!

Team Practice Schedule for October 1 - 6

Only seven practices before the region meet! For our final week of practice before region we will practice Monday - Thursday 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm. Friday we will practice after school from 3:00 - 4:30; and Saturday morning we will have a short practice from 8:00 am - 9:30 am.

Wednesday's practice will be a pizza run to Paradox Pizza for pizza so please bring your appetite!

Please make every attempt to make these practices! If you are unable to attend, please let me know. Thanks.

Team Schedule for September 17 - 22

We have a very busy week ahead for the cross country team.

Practice time has been moved up to 5:30 each evening as it is getting darker earlier. 

• Monday September 17: Team practice starting at 5:30 pm followed by a team talk with Julie Zaranek. Julie will talk to the team about mental tricks for fighting off fatigue and pain and surviving a bad race.
• Tuesday September 18: Team practice starting at 5:30 pm
• Wednesday September 19: Away meet at South Sevier. Team members will be dismissed from class at 11:10 for lunch and then board the bus for South Sevier at 11:30 am. We should return to Moab around 9:00 pm.
• Thursday September 20: Team practice at 5:30 pm. As part of the practice we will deliver flyers to the neighborhood around Swanny informing them of the Moab Autumn Run on Saturday morning.
• Friday September 21: Captain's practice after school. At 6:30 we will have a Pizza and a movie night at Jackson's house. We should be done around 8:30.
• Saturday morning September 22: Moab Autumn Run. All team members are required to be at Swanny City Park at 6:45 am to help set-up for the race. This race is a fund-raiser for the cross-country team.

 Please let any of the coaches know if you have any questions.

BYU Autumn Classic Itinerary

This Saturday morning we run in the BYU Autumn Run. Here is the itinerary:

Leave: 4:30 Friday afternoon from the High School
Dinner: 5:30 pm in Green River. Subway or Arby's.

Moab Mini Triathlon

Congratulations to our six team members who participated in the Moab mini triathlon on Saturday September 8. Jackson Knowles came in 2nd place in the men's elite division, while Zhanna Rice won the women's open division and Skyler Johnson finished fifth in the men's open division.

In the 2010 American Fork Grass Relays Treyton ran a 13:42; Jackson ran a 13:48; Adam ran a 14:34; Jaydan ran a 15:07; Skyler ran a 15:11 and Reyce ran a 18:55. For the girls, Mercedes ran a 15:25 and Jessica ran a 15:53.

Salt Lake/American Fork Itinerary

Here is the itinerary for this weekend's trip to Salt Lake City and American Fork to compete in our first two meets of the season.

8:45 am - Dismissed from school - board bus

9:00 am - Bus leaves for Salt Lake City

10:30 am - Stop at Subway in Price for lunch

2:00 pm - Arrive at Sugar House Park

4:00 pm - Races begin

6:15 pm - Awards Ceremony

7:30 pm - Dinner in Draper

8:30 pm - Arrive at hotel in Draper

9:00 pm - Team meeting

9:30 pm - In rooms

10:00 pm - In Bed - Lights out

6:00 am - Team arises - shower and dress in uniforms
